Mais um torpedo que nos chega da França, do arsenal do nosso grande amigo JEAN TROMBONE. O maravilhoso CHARLATAN TRANSFER, mantendo a grande tradição vocal francesa dos "Les Double Six" e " Swingle Singers", nos brinda com um álbum extraordinário.

THE CHARLATAN TRANSFER
Charlatan Transfer is a vocal jazz group formed in 1989 by its current conductor François Bessac. Composed of twelve performers, each of which has a background in classical music, Charlatan Transfer bridges the styles of jazz and choral chant to create a lively harmonic blend. Despite the reappearance of vocal groups around the world (Take 6, The Real Group, New York Voices, Six 1/2, Trio Esperança), this genre remains rare in France, and Charlatan Transfer's technique of approaching vocal jazz through polyphony is unique. Charlatan Transfer's repertoire, composed of harmonies and complex rhythms, covers the golden ages of jazz, hot, swing, bop and Latin music in a cappella arrangements, or arrangements accompanied by percussion (piano, double bass, drums). Charlatan Transfer presents its repertoire in the form of a show complete with soundboard and spotlights, or sometimes in the form of acoustical concerts. To ensure a broad diversity of musical forms, the group works with the original scores of such major vocal groups as The Real Group or Manhattan Transfer. (That is, when the group doesn't arrange its own scores on the spot!). Convinced that a vocal group is as much a single entity as the sum of its parts, Charlatan Transfer aims to develop a specific resonant texture through significant work in the a cappella genre. Charlatan Transfer undergoes (either individually or as an entire group), frequent jazz interpretation training sessions with renowned artists such as Laurence Saltiel, Roger Letson, etc. Since its creation, Charlatan Transfer has given nearly 80 concerts and shows, principally in the Grenoble area, but also in Quitin in the region of Brittany, in Provence, and in the surrounding areas of Lyon. The group has been invited to an array of jazz and choral chant festivals including Festival Chorijazz, Festival des Choralies, Festival "Europa Cantat" in the city of Nevers, Les Vocales de Thônes, and the Festival "Sing and Swing," of which extensive audio clips in MP3 format are available At its audience's request and for its own pleasure, Charlatan Transfer has already recorded two purely vocal jazz discs - the first opus with 7 songs in 2000 and more recently, in 2004, a disc with 15 songs. The latter has cappella and accompanied songs, Sing and Swing, whose several audio mp3 excerpts are available on the website.

CHARLATAN TRANSFER
Est un ensemble vocal jazz qui est né en 1989 sous l'impulsion de son actuel chef, François Bessac. Composé de 12 chanteurs confirmés qui assoient leur technique sur des bases classiques, il installe des passerelles, des liens entre les mondes du jazz et du chant choral.Malgré le renouveau des groupes vocaux dans le monde (Take 6, The Real Group, New York Voices, Six 1/2, Trio Esperança), ce genre de formation reste rare en France et CHARLATAN TRANSFER est une formation unique dans son approche du jazz vocal au travers de la polyphonie. Harmonies et rythmes complexes font le berceau du répertoire de CHARLATAN TRANSFER, qui parcourt les grandes années du jazz, hot, swing, bop et latin, dans des pièces a cappella ou accompagnées par une section rythmique (piano, contrebasse, batterie). Ce répertoire est présenté sous forme de spectacle avec sonorisation et lumières, mais aussi par des concerts acoustiques. Pour garder une grande variété de forme musicale, le groupe travaille le plus souvent possible sur les partitions originales des grands groupes vocaux comme The Real Group ou Manhattan Transfer, quand ce ne sont pas des arrangements ou des compositions écrits sur mesure! Convaincu qu'un groupe est autant une entité sonore qu'un rassemblement de chanteurs, CHARLATAN TRANSFER s'applique à développer une couleur sonore spécifique, en particulier par un important travail sur le répertoire a cappella. Il effectue aussi, individuellement ou collectivement, un travail régulier d'interprétation jazz avec les personnalités du jazz vocal, comme par exemple, Laurence Saltiel, Roger Letson, etc. Depuis sa création, CHARLATAN TRANSFER a donné près de 80 concerts et spectacles, principalement à Grenoble et dans la région, mais aussi en Bretagne à Quintin, en Provence, dans le Centre. Il est invité dans des festivals de chant choral ou de jazz, Festival Chorijazz, Festival des Choralies, Festival Europa Cantat à Nevers, Les Vocales de Thônes), Festival "Swing sous les étoiles" de Miribel et se produit régulièrement à la salle Messiaen de Grenoble. A la demande de son public et pour son propre plaisir, CHARLATAN TRANSFER a déjà enregistré 2 disques purement jazz vocal, un premier opus de 7 titres en 2000 et plus récemment, en 2004, un disque de 15 titres, a cappella et accompagné, Sing and Swing, dont de larges extraits audio en mp3 sont disponibles.

É fantástico esse grupo vocal. Arranjos, performance e repertório irretocáveis, perfeitos. Tanto nas faixas à capella quanto naquelas com acompanhamento instrumental, O CHARLATAN transita com leveza, competência e naturalidade pelos complexos arranjos e harmonias. Uma perfeição. OURO EM PÓ !

PERSONNEL:
Charlatan Transfer, groupe vocal jazz, est composé de 13 chanteurs: 2 sopranes, 2 mezzos, 3 altos, 3 ténors et 3 basses. Cette configuration autorise une grande souplesse dans la répartition des voix, permettant d'aborder aussi bien des pièces à 4 voix qu'à 6 ou 8 voix. Par ailleurs, l'impression auditive se situe entre le petit chœur, avec une puissance vocale importante, et l'ensemble de solistes, où une grande autonomie est requise pour chaque voix.
