ACABELLA
O quinteto vocal feminino ACABELLA é irlandês. Seu repertório abrange desde canções folclóricas da Irlanda, até o Jazz, passando pelo blues, folk songs, R&B, etc. Curiosamente, devido a uma incrível extensão vocal as cinco vocalistas Eileen McDevitt, Bernardine nic Giolla Phadraig, Yvonne Crotty, Deirdre Harrington e Sarah-Jayne Carey se alternam na primeira voz, ou "lead voicing". Os arranjos são variados e elaborados em função do estilo de cada melodia, mas nota-se claramente
a influência dos seminais "Barbershop Quartets" e dos conjuntos vocais da "vintage".

ACABELLA - Women in Harmony
Acabella, is an Irish female vocal group, comprising Sarah Jayne Carey, Yvonne Crotty, Deirdre Harrington and Eileen McDevitt. From trad and folk, to jazz and blues, Acabella's wide-ranging repertoire reflects the varied musical backgrounds of its five members. The five teamed up after returning from the U.S in April 2001 where they were among the performers in a short tour of One Step Beyond, a concert based on the music of Liam Lawton. Having discovered their vocal compatibility while on tour, the five women decided to indulge their mutual love of harmonizing. By September, Acabella was born and the women were experimenting with material and arrangements in ways that they hadn't initially envisaged. The resultant mood of their creative engagement with and eclectic mix of songs varies from sultry to exultant to poignant. Many of Acabella's arrangements have a deceptive simplicity and a moving purity of sound while others are exciting for their vocal complexity. Always pleasing to the ear and brimming with the women's obvious love of singing, the harmonies and arrangements have a broad appeal. As each member is a lead singer in her own right, an Acabella concert has a vitality and energy all of its own!

MINHA OPINIÃO - para o gosto da maioria da comunidade Cbvgense, pouco afeita às canções típicas da Irlanda ou a folk songs, as preferências certamente recairão na composição de Billie Holliday "GOD BLESS THE CHILD", no medley "Moons" e na clássica balada "Sentimental Journey" , facilmente assimiláveis pelos nossos ouvidos acostumados ao velho e bom estilo dos tradidionais grupos vocais americanos. São muito competentes as meninas do ACABELLA.
